2009 -- Milestones


November 21, 2009 -- Julie Gets Married

Alison skipped down the aisle, and Julie cried within the first minute of the ceremony. Afterward, I think all of the Kirby kids, none of whom were yet old enough to drink alcohol, had a drink or two of something.

It was a great night, when Julie married John Hitchens. 

Let's see, John treated Julie well, he made good money, and had been a pilot in the U.S. Air Force before joining American Airlines. Do you think would have approved or what?

July 10, 2009 -- Ain't That America

Never mind all three were no longer the hitmakers they used to be, the concert at Dayton's Fifth Third Field was a show for the ages -- with Willie Nelson as the opening act, John Mellencamp as the second act, and Bob Dylan closing the show.

It was our first time seeing Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan. As for Mellencamp, yeah, you could say we have seen him a time or two. For me, it was No. 18. It was great. Music always is.

March 29, 2009 -- Heaven On Earth

It seemed as though half of Springboro was in Siesta Key for Spring Break, when we all stayed at a condo complex on Turtle Beach, just south.

Don and Tina flew in. We spent a couple of days on the boat, going from place to place, and then spent most of our evenings on the beach, drinking our drinks and watching the sun go down.

It was just what everyone needed after a long, cold winter.

The occasion was huge, Chloe's first Homecoming Dance, as a freshman...though she looks 21. Here she is with Mom, Sophie, Julie, Sara, and Jenny. That little dress cost a lot, a lot of money...
