I do not regard the fourth Wednesday in April as Administrative Professional’s Day, as it says on the calendar. Instead, I prefer to think of it as Fellow Co-Worker Day, with a motto the celebrates the teamwork that is necessary for any good organization.
We took this team photograph back in January, before social distancing went into effect. With everyone so busy throughout the day, it was a challenge to get them together -- to hold still -- even for just a few moments. But it's our family portrait, so to speak, to show our unity.
A few of our team members started with our court more than 25 years ago, with Judge Flannery, and several more came on board in the years that followed with Judge Oliver. All of them are now in their fourth year with me. That much collective experience also shows their excellence at what they do.
Each of them brings a special talent that helps the rest of us. It would take me a few hours to tell you everything they do. In its simplest description, Pam and Eloisa coordinate extremely busy court dockets, while Rachel and Mary Ellen are the CEOs of first impressions, doing countless things in the front office. And Deborah, Carrie, and Lisa review and prepare documents, corral the attorneys and parties, and keep everything running on time.
If we have a "boss," that would be Diana Flint, our court administrator. All the moving pieces go through her, and everyone -- everyone -- respects the work she does.
So I think April 22 is a special day.
Fellow Co-Worker Day.
Team Day.
Here's a tip of the hat to mine.
